Don’t be afraid to put your work on display

Originally, drawing was something I did as an outlet, but the more I learned and practiced, the more I wanted to put it out for other people to see.

It was a bit intimidating posting my first drawing in the sketchbook I had bought because of how simple it was. It was just an old fashioned radio from Target that caught my eye. Wasn’t much, but it was a start to taking it more seriously. From then on as I would flip back, I could see some progress. Very slight. But whatever I was doing seemed to be working. Oftentimes it can be difficult to put feelings into words. So I would later try and think of ways to personify them on paper. But at the same time, have fun and draw random things from time to time like a Pink Floyd album cover, or my friend’s dog, or my cat. Simple things that came to mind.

Each drawing (or painting if you paint) has a pattern for the most part. The foundation, the proportions, the shadows, the lighting, and the details. The better you get at each one of those, the more progress you’ll make.

I‘m still far from “professional.” I have a lot to learn yet. But nobody ever really stops learning.
